“Stay Out of My Room,” Watercolor, 15×22 inches

I am primarily a watercolor artist who has lived in Portland, Oregon since 1995, where I maintain a studio in the Central Eastside Industrial District and teach art classes for various cultural organizations. I paint because I love using color and shape to tell stories. With a background in art history, I am especially interested in the events and circumstances that lead artists to create.

My art is about bright color and prominent shapes, and I am inspired to paint just about anything as long as I can use these elements to bring my subject to life. Visually, I am drawn to bold, colorful shapes with clearly defined lines. Painting is playful and joyful for me, and these are the feelings I believe most of my paintings evoke. My paintings are mostly expressive and representational, rather than realistic.
